Believe it or not, pumpkins or more specifically, the pulp and seeds therein, can foul up your drains if you are not careful. This day is for the kids. Some simple steps can ensure that it stays that way.
Halloween 2

I have never received a call in my 17 years as a plumber for a stopped up drain from pumpkin seeds or pulp, but it does happen. Seeds and pulp fed into even the "mother" of all garbage disposals may prove to be a disaster. The same would hold true with many toilets for those who choose to go this route.

Pumpkin Plumbing Tips:

1.  Spread a double layer on newspaper on your carving surface.

2.  Place the seeds and pulp on the newspaper while carving the pumpkin.

3.  When your pumpkin looks like one of the above, wrap up the newspaper and  the accompanying entrails and toss this in the trash and not the kitchen sink or the toilet.

Best wishes to you and yours for a fun, safe and happy Halloween.

Sincerely,

David Heffner
