Here are just a few quick plumbing tips to follow that will hopefully make this a holiday that is filled with family, friends, fellowship and nothing more.
Moderation, Moderation, Moderation...
The biggest mistake that people make with disposals is stuffing them like the Thanksgiving turkey. Feed small amounts at a time and give the disposal the opportunity to do its job before adding more.
More tips:
Begin running COLD water, not hot, before turning on the disposal.
Don't grind celery or other fibrous vegetables that may clog the drain.
Continue to run the water for several seconds afterward to make sure that everything gets flushed out to the main drain line.
Treeboy, David and Disposals, Take 2
Tim "Treeboy" Bush was back out at the house this week (11/20/08) to do a remake of the story on disposals and clogged sinks that we did 5 years ago at Thanksgiving. We had fun and apparently several people saw the segment from the feedback that I have gotten. Links for both segments with our do's and don'ts tips are listed below.

Thanksgiving Duty
Like the Maytag repairman, I will be waiting by the phone and available for emergency service all of Thanksgiving day and evening and will also be scheduling work for that Friday as well. I'm stocking up on extra disposals in what I hope will prove to be a busy day.

I have much to be thankful for this year and would not be where I am today without my family, friends, colleagues and last but not least, for all of the customers that continue to call me and pass my name on.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
David Heffner
